What Type of Water Damage Do You Have?

Depending on the type of water intrusion you have in your home it can affect the process for clean-up. Here are the three types of water damage you can have in your home or business.

Clean Water – uncontaminated water at its source and does not pose a threat to people if exposed. Example: water from a sink overflow.

Grey Water – could contain some contaminants and might cause discomfort or illness for people exposed to the water. Example: discharge from the dishwasher, sinks, showers, washing machines. Although gray water is safer to handle than black water both contain pathogens or infectious microorganisms, such as viruses, bacteria, fungus, and several others that cause diseases in humans like tuberculosis, salmonella, influenza, Ebola to name a few.

Black Water – contaminated water that could cause illness or death to people exposed to it. Example: sewage backup and spills, floodwater. Black water usually comes from overflowing toilets or broken sewer pipes, while gray water comes from other sources like sinks, showers, washing machines, and dishwashers.
